Matt's Bio ...
Matt Carlington
Matt is a bass player "extraordinaire".
We are fortunate to have someone that makes even the most seasoned musicians ask him for the specifics to runs and scales. He has been compared to John Entwistle regarding the thunder rolling from his apparently motionless hands!
Matt's been on the bottom (sonicly) for 20+ years. He was raised with his drummer-brother, Mike ("Mudface" and "Destroyer", San Francisco). As kids, they pounded out everything they could find by the likes of Kiss, Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, DRI, COC, Frank Zappa, Ozzy, etc... Hammered and burnished into the child-bassman's mind forever!! Gotta love parents that allow LOUD!! A Detroit favorite... remember the "Scruffy Tearaways"?... oh yeah ya do!!! That was Matt that vibrated your drink off of the table!!... "GG Allin"? (look him up if you don't know who he is... Matt has since repented for his sins).
In his pursuit of raising the "bassological bar", Matt spent several years mastering, of all things, COUNTRY MUSIC! Yes! Matt has blasted a well traveled path down south of the Mason Dixon Line... "Diesel Stew" anyone??... Right again!.. Matt in a hat!
It's been scientifically proven that line dancers made less mistakes when Matt provided the bass lines!... As Matt approached his goals of bass-nirvana he re-focused his studies toward a more "classic" style, as heard on WRIF or WCSX in the Detroit area... who can forget "Crazy Way"?... oh yeah, we're not just droppin' names here... Matt provided the technically correct side of this powerhouse gang, making tunes like 'Master of Puppets' and 'War Pigs' secure in their bottom features... again, apparently NOT moving his hand, visibly to the naked eye!!
As mentioned before, Impact is extremely fortunate to have Matt as a member.. as are our fans.
